Healthy skin is really one of the most important ingredients for beauty-enhancement. People often commend on how hard it is to maintain or have a healthy younger looking skin, however, there are a few simple things that we can do daily to maintain skin health.

1. Knowing your skin type

Knowing your skin type is important as it helps to determine what skin care product you should choose because not every skin care product suits everyone. In fact, all the skin care products specify the type of skin they cater too. Make sure you read the instruction on the package of the skincare products you choose to ensure they suit your skin type. For sensitive skins, be very careful with the skincare product you use and also perform a patch test before use.

2. Regular cleansing routine

Regular skin cleansing routine helps to get rid of the dirt, makeup residue and other harsh elements which could harm or damage your skin. Our skin exposes to harmful pollutants, dusts, germs everyday and it is vital to clean your skin at least once or two\ice daily. Make sure you use Luke warm water for cleansing. Both hot and cold water cause damage to your skin.

3. Use only soap free cleanser on your face

Only use soap free cleansers which are made for use on face as they are gentler on your facial skin. For people who have sensitive skin, it is recommended to use soap free cleanser for both body and face.

4. Exfoliation is important but don't overdo it

Skin follows a natural maintenance process wherein it removes the dead cells and replaces them with new skin cells. Exfoliation is just a way to facilitate the skin in this process. Dead skin cells are not capable of responding to personal skin care products but still consume these products, hence preventing them from reaching the new skin cells. Thus removing dead skin cells is important in order to increase the effectiveness of all personal skin care products. Generally, exfoliation takes it place just after cleansing. As with any personal skin care procedure, it is important that you understand how much exfoliation you need. Too much or too hash exfoliation can cause damage to your sin. Treat your skin gently. Exfoliate 1-2 times per week is normally enough unless your skin is extra oily. Always follow your skin care product's instruction.

5. Keep your skin moist at all times

Don't let your skin get dry. Dryness causes the outer layer of your skin to break, leading to a rough and unattractive appearance. Use moisturizers. Even people with oily skin need moisturisers. Moisturisers not only seal the moisture in your skin cells, but also attract moisture (from air) whenever needed. Use of too much moisturiser can however clog skin pores and end up harming your skin. The amount of moisturiser needed by your skin will become apparent to you within one week of you using the moisturizer. Choose a moisturizer which suits your skin type and ensure it is a good quality product that contains the necessary nutrients for best skin care. Moisturisers work best when applied while the skin is still damp.

6. Use sunscreen

Use sunscreen to protect yourself from sun harmful UV radiations. Use them even when it is cloudy. UV radiations are known to cause skin cancer and other skin conditions. Make sure you apply sunscreen daily.


7. Drink plenty of water

Drinking water can clear up your skin and flush away the toxin that has been accumulated in your body. People often report a healthy glow after drinking water. Getting into the habit of drinking of at least 8 glass of water will not only keep your skin moist but will help in overall upkeep of your health (and in turn your skin).

8. Regular exercise and plenty of sleep

Regular exercise and plenty of quality sleep are essential not just for skin care but for your health as a whole. Lack of sleep can lead to formation of wrinkles below your eyes and lack of exercise can cause your skin to slack. Regular exercise and good quality sleep also help in beating stress, which is harmful to your skin too.

9. Beat the stress

Researches have shown that stress can cause speeding up of the aging process of your skin. People under prolong stress generally looks older. So, take a break or indulge in a warm bubble bath or just get good sleep.

10. Don't ignore skin conditions

Be sure to pay attention to your skin and if you notice any abnormalities, consult your dermatologist immediately. People normally either ignore the problem or seek to self -diagnose and treat the condition themselves, which often lead to more serious problems.
